On Saturday March 16th, 25 hikers, route angels, locals from Mermigies and Ai Yannis Makrotantalou, Fellos, Gavrio, Stivari, Korthi, Neiporio, Lamyra as well as visitors of the Clean Monday long weekend and few foreigners from Germany and the Netherlands, took part in the 6th maintenance hike on route 14, from Agia Irini to Amolochos. The weather was mild with sun and few clouds giving us a pleasant day.

At the Frusei stream we cut some vegetation and took a break at the usual glade with rocks and ponds. Along the way we admired the ruins of the water mills and discussed their history and their technical side. The stream had enough water but climate change has noticeably reduced the flow from year to year.
The ascent to Amolochos, quite steep, needs more effort which is always mitigated with small stops. An orange tree quenched our thirst with its fruits, while the view that spread over Cavo D’oro as we climbed to the village of Amolochos compensated us for the uphill climb.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the maintenance hike!
We look forward to the next one on Saturday March 23th!
