Our Participation in the 2nd Meeting of Intangible Cultural Heritage Organizations in Greece!

We were also present at the 2nd Meeting of the Living/Intangible Cultural Heritage Network, which took place from February 21 to 23, 2025, at the Technopolis of the City of Athens, co-organized by the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and the Organization of Culture, Sports, and Youth of the City of Athens (OPANDA).

The goals of the three-day event were:

  • To facilitate acquaintance and information exchange among communities and organizations of intangible cultural heritage.
  • To exchange opinions and actively participate in the Living Cultural Heritage Network.
  • To explore and encourage collaborations, as well as to highlight issues of preservation and best practices based on the experiences and suggestions of the Network members.

The event included presentations, roundtable discussions, experiential workshops, parallel events, and networking opportunities.

During the event:

We presented the overall work of our organization, which is celebrating 16 years of operation this year, emphasizing both the Andros Routes project and our most recent activities related to traditional practices in the management of surface water in Andros, the repair of dry stone constructions through the art of dry stone walling, and our latest initiative on lemon cultivation in Andros. We co-coordinated the section on Agro-food Traditions and Gastronomy with Evangelos Karamanes.

Additionally, we listened to and learned about many significant and original efforts being made across our country to preserve our material and intangible cultural heritage. We were inspired and felt less alone in our work in Andros.

Finally, as part of the meeting, the coordinating team was enriched with new members, and this year we will have the honor and joy to participate and contribute as an organization to this body!
