Committed for the past 16 years not only to maintaining the Andros Routes hiking trail network but also to promoting it, we responded to an invitation from the Municipality of Andros and welcomed two journalists to our office who visited the island to report on Andros’ unique character and attractions, with particular emphasis on its hiking infrastructure.

In cooperation with the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Mr. Nikolaos Moustakas, the following meetings took place:

On 1st of June 2026, we welcomed journalist Apostolos Staikos, who works for the Greek service of the international news network Euronews. Olga Karagianni had the opportunity to discuss with him the origins and development of the Andros Routes initiative, the challenges it has faced, its achievements, and the opportunities that lie ahead. During the visit, we gave a brief interview and subsequently provided the journalist with video footage of Andros’ hiking trails and the maintenance work we have carried out continuously over the past 16 years.

On 19th of June 2026, we welcomed Alessandro Allocca, an acclaimed Italian journalist, university lecturer, and public relations consultant, who serves as the London correspondent for the major Italian newspaper la Repubblica. Dimitra Pappa presented the organisation’s work since its establishment, placing particular emphasis on the Andros Routes initiative, its creation, development, and operation. Following the meeting, we sent the journalist background material and supporting information for use in his forthcoming article.

We hope that media coverage of Andros will not only attract environmentally conscious visitors who value and respect the island’s unique natural and cultural heritage, but also strengthen our collective awareness of the responsibility we all share to preserve this heritage and pass it on intact to future generations.
