On Sunday, May 10th , a wonderful hiking route took place in Northern Andros, starting from Agia Irini and passing through Frousaioi and Kato Varidi, with the beautiful Zorgos Beach — one of the true gems of the island’s northern side — as the final destination.

A total of 21 people took part in the hike, coming from different parts of Andros, along with friends of the island from Athens and Switzerland, creating a warm and cheerful group. Two children also joined the walk, bringing even more energy and liveliness to the team, as well as a few beloved four-legged companions who enthusiastically accompanied the route.

The trail, approximately 10 kilometers long, was completed in nearly four hours, including two short stops for rest and to enjoy the scenery. The weather was particularly pleasant and contributed to making the day ideal.

The first part of the route, through the Frousei stream, was mostly shaded, following the river’s course through a lush green natural landscape.

From Kato Varidi to Zorgos Beach, the trail continued through an area of low vegetation, gradually opening up to wide views of the sea. The sea breeze made the hike especially pleasant despite the warmth of the day.

During the walk, several participants helped with basic trail maintenance tasks, although the overall condition of the route was already very good and presented no significant difficulties.

Special thanks are due to our guide, Giannis Tridimas, who shared with us valuable knowledge about the area, the hiking trails, nature, and the local history, greatly enriching the experience and making it even more interesting and memorable for everyone.

The hike concluded safely at the beautiful Zorgos Beach, without any unexpected incidents. In fact, many hikers did not miss the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear and already pleasantly warm sea waters.

The next maintenance hike will take place on the Remmata – Lefka – Ateni route.

Stay tuned — more information will be announced soon!
