The Andros Routes in the world-famous tourist guide Le Routard!
The volume Randonnées en Europe, published in 2024 by the French tourist guide Le Routard, published by Hachette, contains information and advice on the most wonderful areas and hiking trails in Europe that one can walk in a few days. It provides information and advice on the preparation and safety of the hiking routes it recommends.
This particular edition mentions about 70 km of the Andros network that is taken care of by the volunteers of Andros Routes! (A great honor for us!)
The publication encourages its readers to put on their hiking shoes and discover the most beautiful trails in Europe. Among all these well-known European trails, it also recommends the routes of Andros! Is it possible not to brag? It is not possible!
In the chapter “Andros, par les sentiers” (Andros, by the trails) the authors of the article suggest four daily routes crossing Andros literally from north to south: From Frousei to Batsi, from Batsi to Apoikia, from Apoikia to Vrachnou and from Vrachnou to Ormos Korthiou (Gialos).
Special mention to the springs of Andros and the beaches where the routes end, as an extra gift of coolness during the summer months when the heat is not conducive to walking.
With the eyes of a local, they recommend restaurants, hotels, sights, and beaches for each route.
Finally, the authors urge their readers to stay for a few days after the hikes to relax in the sweet, lazy Greek atmosphere.
It may be another publication about Andros, but the people who wrote it “were well-read” and we, the volunteers of Andros Routes, are happy with similar publications because we do not want “big words” but “right words”.
Thank you Randonnées en Europe!
