The weather was finally great for hiking …! Although many participants cancelled due to the weather forecast, 16 people joined us. They came from all over the island and abroad (Mirmigies, Ano & Kato Fellos, Pisolimionas, Charakas, Aprovatou, Korthi, Katakalei).  From our starting point at the church of Agia Irina Chrysovanandou, we took a mini bus and went to Amolochos.
We started descending, passing by the church of Agia Paraskevi, walking by the magnificent ruins of old houses of Amolochos, and soon we reached the Frousei riverbed. Northern Andros seemed full of mystery in this autumn weather… We enjoyed lovely apples, peaches and the first strawberry tree fruits of this year…
Passing by the watermill ruins parallel to the lush ravine we ended up at the dirt track leading to the Agia Irini church where we ended our hike.
Along the way we have removed overgrown vegetation, unblocked part of the route where large branches from a tree had fallen, checked the way markings and noted spots that need improvements.
The beautiful day was completed with a wonderful meal…
Our gratitude to all the participants. Soon there will be a new announcement for the next maintenance hike planned for the weekend of 14-15th of October 2017!
